Pelvic Pain Disorders

Sarah Lechner – Registered Massage Therapist

Sarah is a Sutherland-Chan graduate and has been with Summit Massage Studio since our doors first opened!  She’s a wonderful addition to our team and continues to expand her knowledge with ongoing courses.  Her recent training involves treating pelvic pain disorders.

In her studies Sarah learned common signs and symptoms of pelvic pain disorders, gained an understanding of the structures involved, and acquired massage treatment techniques and homecare directives to resolve symptoms. Some of these techniques are specific, yet indirect, because there is often no identifying reason why one develops pelvic pain disorders.  These indirect techniques are helpful because we now understand that stress reduction techniques go a long way to soothe the overactive nervous system driving our bodies.

Many patients find it difficult to receive an accurate diagnosis for their symptoms of overactive bladder, lower abdominal or groin pain, sexual dysfunction or low back pain.  Sarah will assess and use myofascial techniques to release trigger points, incorporate specific breathing techniques, and focus the treatment on relieving pain and decreasing stress to help those who suffer from pelvic pain.
